I am sitting here staring a a blank screen with an equal mix of excitement and trepidation. I have wanted to launch a platform that would allow me to share the knowledge I have gained from over a decade in the Stock Photography business with a new generation of aspirational photobugs to help them get a leg up without having to go through as many of the “hard lessons” as possible.

I would also like to provide a forum where readers can share their best practices with me and learn from each other in a free flow of ideas without judgement or criticism.

I like so many of you started with photography as a hobby, but that hobby quickly became a passion and then an almost obsession (in a good way). After retiring from a career in Computer Engineering, I decided to pick up the camera full time to see where it would take me.

I could never have imagined the hours of sheer joy and satisfaction this would give me. I was very fortunate to have many people who took the time to help me grow and learn along the way – and now I would like to pay that forward if I can.

I hope this blog will appeal to anyone who wants to turn their passion into a money making endeavor – or who just wants to understand the business of photography outside of the traditional wedding/studio portrait genres.

So look for much, much more to come over the next several weeks focusing on the business, technical and subject matter areas of photography – I can’t wait to get this journey started.
